Thanks Lance. I can personally recommend Sofia's restaurant @ The Edison Hotel. Birdland prides itself as being "The friendliest jazz club in NYC" and it certainly is, compared to the Blue Note which can be very expensive an a little off-putting at times. Also thoroughly recommend The Bitter End in Greenwich Village.
