Small world. I picked up a Gil Evans compilation album the other day. It included 3 tracks by a lady called Marcy Lutes whom I'd never heard of but who sang "Cheek to Cheek", "Aren't You Glad You're You" and "Travelin' Light" rather well.
I decided to find out more and discovered the three tracks were from her only album which was recorded in 1957 - a year after she got divorced from .... Barry Galbraith.
What happened to her afterwards is a mystery which is a shame as one reviewer described her voice as "Think Annie Ross & Doris Day". I can think along those lines any time!
